Darren Waller, the 30-year-old tight end for the New York Giants, is reportedly considering retirement from the NFL after just one season with the team. According to ESPN's Jordan Raanan, Waller is expected to announce his decision this week ahead of mandatory minicamp.
Waller, a former All-Pro with the Las Vegas Raiders, has been contemplating retirement throughout the past year. He has struggled with injuries in recent seasons, playing in just 11 games in 2022.
Waller's potential retirement would be a significant loss for the Giants, who signed him to a three-year, $29.5 million contract last offseason. He caught 28 passes for 353 yards and two touchdowns in 2023.
